“Let’s Talk!” PW Video Feature (October Edition)-World Mental Health Day

Your favourite parenting and lifestyle e-magazine Parents World now brings you interesting and inspiring conversations with parents, entrepreneurs and experts  in a new video series called “Let’s Talk”!

In our latest episode of “Let’s Talk” to commemorate World Mental Health Day (celebrated on 10th October every year); Parents World Publisher Jasmine Goh spoke to Ping Qi, Clinical Psychologist and Co-Founder of Holding Ground – a private psychology practice focused on maternal mental wellness.

Mothers, especially expectant and new mothers face a lot of mental stress and challenges, driven by the high demands of the new role, expectations from self, pressure from family and society, and they are very often unable to cope with this huge transition. This is the reason why Parents World chose to talk about Mums’ Mental Health in our episode commemorating World Mental Health Day, to raise awareness among our readers about the very important yet often neglected issue.

Ping Qi

Despite her clinical background, Ping Qi experienced the personal challenges of motherhood and faced many difficulties when adjusting to her new role as a mother. She realized that Singapore lacked in providing professional specialized help to mothers who were struggling, like herself, to adjust to the new role.

In order to bridge that gap, Ping Qi went for further training and became the first Singaporean psychologist to be certified in Perinatal Mental Health by Postpartum Support International.

Through her professional practice, Ping Qi aims to support and empower mothers navigate their new roles, offering them the necessary tools that can help them not only cope with, but enjoy motherhood!

Ping Qi is also one of our expert panelists. You can send her your questions on mental health issues here.
