ChildFirst’s child-centric teaching pedagogy emphasizes on the 3 pillars of a robust Chinese immersion programme, an age-appropriate Coding & technology programme and an iUnique curriculum that is based on Howard Gardener’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences. The preschool adopts an intensive Chinese immersion approach leading to children developing a strong foundation in the language. The Chinese curriculum applies the Chinese Rapid Word Recognition System and Chinese Readers story books to build proficiency in the subject.
ChildFirst’s coding programme is led by computer specialists and is age-appropriate. In the initial years the preschool teaches coding “unplugged” that is without the use of screens, wherein children learn to make sense of sequencing through various hands-on activities.
As they progress to K1 the children are able to apply this acquired knowledge to do coding, build algorithms and program robots. In the process, children learn computational skills, problem-solving and logical reasoning. As they learn to rely on their own creativity, the pre-schoolers gain confidence to navigate the more difficult paths in primary school and beyond.
