Sesame Street Run & Fair

Can you tell me how to get… How to get to Sesame Street?”

Mark your calendars Singapore- 17th November is the day Bert, Elmo & the Cookie Monster are coming to town with all their Sesame Street buddies! Watch 1, Tampines Walk get a makeover as Sesame Street as the world’s first Sesame Street Run is flagged off at Our Tampines Hub (OTH). Everyone’s favourite Sesame Street characters such as Elmo, Abby
Caddaby, Grover and Cookie Monster will be joining in the fun and running alongside participants.

With the theme of “Healthy and Strong with Every Step”, the run consists of a 5-kilometre route within the Tampines region. Participants will make their way through scenic Tampines Central Park, across heartland landmarks, make a pit stop at Tampines West Community Club before reaching the finish line at Our Tampines Hub. There will also be a 2 km leisure walk for families with younger children and grandparents to make it a family bonding experience.

The event will be flagged off by Guest-of-Honour Mr Baey Yam Keng, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Minister of Culture, Community and Youth and Ministry of Transport & Adviser to Tampines Grassroots Organisations, who will also be joining in the run with Tampines residents. What’s a celebration without a cake? The run will start with a Giant Birthday Cake Blowout with the special flag-off and countdown done by Count Von Count.

Impressing the Cookie Monster:

The run organized in conjunction with the 50th anniversary celebrations of the much-adored show Sesame Street will also witness an attempt to break Singapore’s Book of Records with a 4 meter Sesame Street logo made up entirely of cookies!

This record-breaking cookie collage, resembling Sesame Street’s 50th-anniversary logo will be made up of colorful cookies. This feat is being attempted by the Association for Persons with Special Needs (APSN) in partnership with the event’s official organizer, Heroes Pvt. Ltd. Run participants will also get a taste of this record breaking feat as the cookies will be on sale at the APSN booth at the carnival, proceeds of which will go to the APSN.

Not just a Run!

Unlike other running events, the Sesame Street Run is not just about crossing the finishing line. It is rather about spending an enjoyable day with your family and friends as there is a Sesame Street Carnival with host of fun activities for the participants after the race. The carnival is also open to the public after 12 pm.

Participants can click photos en route to the finish line with various Sesame Street figurines and alphabet cut-outs along the way. There will also be many vendor booths such as Ben’s Cookies, Mighty Jaxx, APSN and many more where one can shop for Sesame Street merchandise and memorabilia. Limited edition Sesame Street caps, wristbands and more will also be available for sale on the day of the run.
