Tips to make our lives that little bit easier? Yes please. The parenting journey is about little discoveries either stumbled upon, dispensed by a fellow parent, or devised after an ‘aha!’ moment. The good news is that most of the best parenting hacks around usually involve the basic, accessible household items – meaning that you don’t have to look far to find your next ingenious parenting game-changer.
1. Making Hiccups History
Think hiccups and everyone will have their own remedy, from holding your breath and counting to 50, to breathing slowly and deeply into a paper bag. A convenient, effective, and not to mention, delicious trick to cure hiccups for you and your little ones is a big, creamy spoonful of peanut butter. Gulp it down on its own whole and notice your hiccups disappear instantly. Your little one will also be taking his daily serving of protein too. Just don’t be surprised to see him running back for more.
2. The Cup For Parenting Champions
Besides holding photos and memos on the fridge door, magnets also come in handy when you’re tired of your kids using new cups and leaving the used ones lying around. This results in you doing a lot of unnecessary cup-washing in a day. Pick your battles and spend a little time with this quick hack. Super-glue two magnets to the back of a plastic cup, let it sit for at least 30 minutes, and it’s good to go on the fridge. Just make sure that the cup is light enough to stick to the fridge door.
3. Yay To Spray
Have a kid that loves wearing temporary tattoos? Save her the painful arm-scrubbing when the time comes for you to remove those half-worn-off body art by using hairspray. Simply spray at the tattoo (from a distance), leave it to sit for a moment, and wipe off with a damp cloth. Baby oil is another great alternative as it removes tattoos without needing much rubbing while leaving your child’s skin nice and soft afterwards.
