It has been a week since our annual Parents World Junior Chef and we sure had a taste of how our little chefs whip out those deliciously looking dishes! From 9th to 17th March, we had workshops specially catered for our little ones to cook a simple dish ranging from Macaroni Soup, Japanese Bento, Pizza Toast, and our all-time favourite Chocolate Chip Cookies.
It was at then the March holidays, where families were out shopping and it’s also a good time to let the little one let loose and unleash the inner master chef in them. Children were also allowed to bag home the dishes that they’ve made and a goodie bag worth of goodies!
The event wasn’t all about cooking and competition. Friendships were made and the kids were all getting along like they knew each other for the longest time. The competition was held on the 18th March, during the competition, the families had a little cooking competition, where they were put to the test of their teamwork, creativity, and the taste of the dishes that they’ve prepared. Additional points were also awarded to participants who have used ingredients from Naturel and Knife Oil.
The competition was divided into 2 categories, 4 to 7 and 8 to 12 years old. Teams have 1hour and 30mins to prepare a dish from scratch. The sky is the limit and the families sure brought something new to the table.
We are honoured to have Daphne from Mayer, Iron Man Chef – Chef Heman, Chef Ong Wen Xiang from Mak’s Noodle, Chef Li Yeuk Tung who specially flew from Hong Kong to Honolulu at Singapore’s branch to join us for this judging panel. The judging process wasn’t easy. The judges had a tough time deciding because everyone’s presentation and tastes were on par. The deciding factor lies with the ingredients they used and the tabulation of the score among the judges. It was hard, but we have narrowed down to our Top 3 winners of each category.
The event wouldn’t have been successful without the help of our part-timers, the Chefs for our judging panel, our sponsors for this event. Special mention to Fraser The Centrepoint Mall for co-organizing this event and do follow us on @ParentsWorldSG on Instagram and /ParentsWorldSingapore on Facebook. Who knows, Parents World Junior Chef may be back sooner than you think.
