Beginning 7 January 2017, Eu Tong Sen Street, New Bridge Road and South Bridge Road will welcome the year of the Rooster with handmade sculptured lanterns of roosters, hens and chicks. The contemporary lanterns are designed by 14 select students of the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), and are produced by 40 master craftsmen.

The Giant Rooster Lantern prides as being the longest centrepiece to ever be made for the street light-up (measuring 100m in length from its head to the end of its feather tails).
