Romance shouldn’t be about a lavish date or showering your loved one with expensive gifts. Here’s how to keep the fire burning without breaking the bank!
Romance is not always about buying presents and going on expensive dates. In fact, it’s more to do with the feelings and emotions you conjure up by something you say or do during a moment – and it is this moment that will make you smile over and over again as you look back through the years.
Be spontaneous, be imaginative – and most of all, let your feelings shine and concentrate on each other. Forget about the over-clichéd use of chocolates and flowers, try these 7 easy ways to keep romance alive in your relationship on a budget!

1.Set aside one night during the week for date night – and don’t let anything change that. Just knowing that your special evening is around the corner will keep you in a good mood for days. And take turns in planning the date night
2. Talk about your feelings for each other and walk down memory lane – cosy up and talk about the little things that make your relationship special. Create a top 3 list of things – the top 3 most romantic kisses you’ve shared together, the top 3 best holidays you’ve had, the top 3 most memorable make out sessions you’ve had together. The possibilities are endless and you never know where the conversation might end up!
3. Have candle light dinners – stay in and surprise your partner with a home cooked meal. Or better yet, cook up a simple meal together and start the romantic evening off early. Create the right ambience by simply turning off the lights, putting on some soft music and lighting the candles. Dinner doesn’t have to be expensive. And it doesn’t get more intimate and romantic than this. And don’t forget to turn off your phones!
4. Set aside time on the weekend for sex – much as you may want to, weekdays have a tendency of getting away from us, and you may not have the time or energy to enjoy some good old fashioned intimacy with your partner. So make up for it on the weekends. And make it count!
5. Do something fun as a couple – pack a picnic and spend a day outdoors, lying on the grass, being lazy together and watch the world go by; pull out a blanket at night and lie under the stars and feel time stop still for the both of you. The possibilities are endless – just use your imagination and do something that will bring you together as a couple and create everlasting memories.
6. Post It – stick a little post-it note, or better yet, a little handmade card on the fridge before you leave for work in the morning telling your partner how much you love them and that you can’t wait to see them tonight. It’s the little things that count and what your partner will remember throughout the day.

7. Play Truth or Dare – yes, it was something you played back in university, but now you can make this game as enticing and provocative as you both dare.
