Your life is about to change with the arrival of a tiny little one. While you can’t wait to meet him, you and your partner can’t help but feel a little nervous about the huge change you’re about to experience! Instead of fretting over more baby-related stuff, why not take a break and go on a well-deserved babymoon? A quick getaway not only recharges the batteries but also give you and your partner the chance to spend some quality alone time together before the baby comes.
Before you book your flights, do get the green light from your doctor. If your pregnancy has been normal, travelling should be okay up until the 36th week. Just to be safe, ask your doctor to refer you to an obstetrician at your destination. It’s also wise to check your insurance and update it if possible. Once you’re cleared, its time to get to the fun part. Check out this awesome list of regional babymoon destinations we’ve put together with mummies and daddies to be in mind.
Luckily for us, a dream tropical vacation is only a few hours away in Bali. Chill at secluded beaches, indulge in a luxurious spa session or just lounge by your private pool. With prenatal spa treatments and organic meals, we definitely recommend the Como Shambhala as the perfect babymoon retreat. More adventurous couples can explore Bali with a relaxing private tour that’s customised to mama’s needs. For a touch of romance, hop over to Komodo National Park where you can visit the famous Pink Beaches and dip your toes into the crystal waters.
Koh Samui, Thailand
While Phuket is the popular choice, Koh Samui is just as beautiful surrounded by clear waters and lush greenery. For couples who want nothing more than to spend the day lounging around, the chill vibes of Koh Samui will allow you to do just that. Luxuriate away at Akatsuki, a Japanese inspired resort where the ultimate zen experiences await. When you do get the itch to explore, check out the Fisherman’s Village where you can enjoy local delicacies and procure several knick-knacks from the local boutiques.
Not one for sandy beaches and sunbathing? City slickers will enjoy a quick getaway to Hong Kong, where transport is convenient and shopping malls are aplenty. Free of tax, mums can indulge in the best kind of therapy – retail. And because you get hungry every 10 minutes, it’s just dandy that there’s food around every corner!
Byron Bay, Australia
If you’re looking to escape the warm climate, Australia is a comfortable distance away for pregnant mums. Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane are great choices, but if you’re looking for something different, why not head to the coastal town of Byron Bay. There’s a beach for every day of the week here, some where you can spy dolphins leaping from the waters. The laidback nature of Byron Bay is perfect for mums who want to fulfil their wanderlust, but don’t want to stray too far from a bathroom.
Da Nang, Vietnam
For the couple who wants it all, Da Nang is just the place for you. Located between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang is quickly becoming a popular destination for its culture, shopping and proximity to amazing beaches. Talk about a triple threat. It’s no wonder why there are luxury resorts sprouting all along the beaches. Looking to get pampered? Check out the Fusion Maia Da Nang, which offers a host of spa treatments all included in your room rate – it’s like an all-inclusive spa buffet! However, if you ever do grow weary of the indulgence, the city centre is conveniently only 10 minutes away. It’s the perfect babymoon destination right on a silver platter.
